Subsequently more followed suit – more than 50 yahoogroups. The last ones that I created were in 2011.  Thereafter, I started and focused on using Google groups because of the inconvenience that arose from Yahoogroups not allowing subscription by mere additions of email addresses but by invitations.

This electronic communication group is created by Dr. Reynaldo O. Joson to facilitate his coaching, advising and mentoring (CAM) of the staff, particularly the senior and middle management, of Ciudad Medical Zamboanga (CMZ) on its journey to excellence.

ROJoson’s CAM of CMZ officially started in October 2011 when he formally facilitated CMZ’s 1st Strategic Planning Conference held in Lantaka Hotel, Zamboanga City. The output was the 2010 – 2012 CMZ Strategic Plan.

Dear Rey,
Thank you for including me in your list of recepients. I really
appreciate it and I feel fortunate. Imagine it had to be a patients I
entrusted to you (Mrs.Fortes and our maid) who served as links for me to
re-establish regular contacts with you. Now I feel like I’m in PGH again
under your guidance. Actually , as time passed by after leaving PGH I felt
like something in me as a surgeon has deteriorated. I still do a lot of
reading and I even divide my time between traning residents in surgery and
doing private practice. However, I feel that it would have been different
had I been connected with PGH just like my contemporaries like Art, Nelson,
Jojo and Armand to name a few. With you project, even from a distance I now
can get first hand information on anything which has to do with Surgery.
Regarding your eulogy on occasion of the the retirement of Dr. Limson,
no one could have delivered it much better than you. I congratulate you for
an excellent tribute you gave to our mentor. Just like you, I owe a lot to
Dr. Limson who also happened to be my ninong. I was in the waiting list
among the applicants in surgery and he gave me a break when the next in
line backed out. I wouldn”t be where I am now if it were not for him.

Note: I got this quote circa 1986.  I cannot remember the author.  I chanced upon it while doing my clutter management today.  I like it up to to now as it is apt and as I have applied the advices during the past 36 years in my cancer operations, in my operations in general, particularly in the Philippine General Hospital and Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center where resources are scarce.   Graduates of residency training programs in Philippine General Hospital  and other government hospitals are usually given the moniker of MacGyver.  The above quote reminds me of MacGyver.   Aside from operations, I have made good use of the above advices in my other activities as an educator, researcher, and hospital administrator.  Of course, also in my daily life and chore challenges, big and small, significant and insignificant ones.

Yesterday, Sept 3, 2011, I got hold of a copy of my very own book entitled “Thyroid Surgical Diseases.”  This was brought to my clinic in MDH by Dr. Alex Palines from Batangas City.  Thanks, Alex. I was so happy to see the dedication or autograph I made to Alex in 1986.  More so, I am happy to know that he has kept the book all these years, from the time of EDSA I revolution, and as he has said, used it for himself and for all his residents in Batangas City Regional Hospital. Having received the book, I am set to review it and come out with a 2nd edition or 2nd book on thyroid diseases.
