It was the last morning of our perpetual duty and within five hours, the next set of residents would arrive to relieve us. I went to the emergency room to check on the patients. I was instructing the medical clerks and interns on what they would do when suddenly a 46-year-old female came in on a wheel chair. The lady looked older than her age and exhausted probably due to the continuous pain that she was feeling. Her relative had a referral with an ultrasound result with findings of “Hydrops of the Gallbladder”. Upon physical examination, pain was felt even on a slight pressure.
They told me that it was already the third hospital they had been to since they didn’t have enough funds to pay…
