Instructions: Evaluate the digital slides using the parameters and criteria as guides.  If not applicable, place NA.

Parameters and Criteria

Bad (0)

Poor (1)

WORD SLIDES
1 CLEAR in that the contents can be clearly seen by the audience from a reasonable distance
2 Clear font type (Arial recommended)
3 Adequate font size (at least size 24, preferably size 28. If smaller than 24 needed, lowest, 16, but in bold!)
4 Adequate font weight (bold)
5 Clear font color (sharp contrast with background)
6 Non-obscuring background (use simple background design)
7 Clear and one theme / topic per slide
8 Avoid incorrect spelling / incorrect syntax.
9 Use simple background design.
10 Avoid jampacked word slides.Limit to 7 lines (not more than 10 lines) in the body of each slide as much as possible.
 
TABLE SLIDES
1 CLEAR in that the contents can be clearly seen by the audience from a reasonable distance
2 Clear font type (Arial recommended)
3 Adequate font size (at least size 24, preferably size 28. If smaller than 24 needed, lowest, 16, but in bold!)
4 Adequate font weight (bold)
5 Clear font color (sharp contrast with background)
6 Non-obscuring background (use simple background design)
7 Clear and one theme / topic per slide
8 Avoid incorrect spelling / syntax.Avoid errors in numbers.
9 Use simple background design.
10 Avoid data dump.  Limit to 7 (not more than 10) rows of table in each slide.
PICTURE SLIDES
1 Well-focused with good resolution (not blurred)
2 With proper lighting (not over-exposed; not under-exposed)
3 With proper size of intended focus of interest (proper zooming-in or close-up)
4 With a proper background that will promote clarity or contrast of the object of interest
5 With a clear pictorial message or objective such as to show the nature of the pathology or to show the nature of the activity in the picture
6 With proper orientation /proper pointers, markers, and / or illustrations as needed
7 Not too many contents  as these will impair the clarity of the picture because of sacrifice in size
8 Clean pictorial person and object of interest
9 Clean background – such as no unnecessary background objects

  • In intra-operative pictures – such as no unnecessary gloved fingers, gauze, instruments
  • In pictures of patients – such as no unnecessary chairs, tables, and persons in the background
10 No dirty background such as blots and blood and dirty linen/cloth used as background
