Breast Cancer Survivor Leonisa Franco – 14 Years in Remission

Ms. Leonisa Franco was 72 years old in 1998 when I did a modified radical mastectomy on her right breast because of the presence of infilitrating ductal carcinoma.  Axillary nodes were negative for spread.  One year afte the operation, she developed a local recurrence for which a wide excision was done followed by tamoxifen therapy.  One year after the first local recurrence, she developed another local recurrence for which radiotherapy was done.  She continued her tamoxifen therapy for 5 years.

I saw Ms. Franco in May 31, 2012.  She is now 86 years old, 14 years in remission.  We both thank God for this long remission.
