How to Promote Breast Wellness Among Filipino Females

ROJoson’s Recommendations to the Community-at-large

The key strategy is an intense public health education to be led by breast specialists who have the correct and comprehensive concept of breast wellness in mind.  The goal of the public health education is to dispel myths and to allay fear and anxiety thereby preventing phobia and paranoia with breast cancer.

A complementary specific strategy will be the judicious use of breast imaging screening and diagnostic procedures, particularly mammography and ultrasound.  A lot of the unwanted fear and anxiety among adult Filipino females arose from the “alarming” words and phrases frequently seen in the reports of these procedures done on patients with “normal” breasts.

Still another complementary specific strategy will be for the so-called breast clinics / centers in the Philippines to formulate programs with the recommended concept of breast wellness in mind and not just to focus on breast diagnostic tests.  Also, for the staff of breast clinics / centers not to sow fear and anxiety on breast cancer and to exert more efforts to promote breast wellness among their patients.
