Head and Neck Disorders and Diseases [Head and Neck Consciousness Week – 4th Week of April] (Continuation of ROJoson’s Write-up)

 

The head and neck organs and specialized tissues can be affected by any kind of disorders and diseases, both local and systemic.

 

The following are the more common disorders and diseases affecting the head and neck organs and specialized tissues:

1.       Masses – cancers and non-cancers

2.       Injuries

3.       Inflammation and infection

4.       Endocrine and metabolic

5.       Congenital anomalies

6.       Nutritional diseases

 

The specific causes of the head and neck disorders and diseases are usually difficult to determine.  However, the factors that usually lead to the disorders and diseases are genetic, environmental, and self-induced.
