My corporate social responsibility and legacy for Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center Department of Surgery (with grants from the Don Go Peng Kuan Foundation):

Two Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center Department of Surgery Projects to be Funded by Don Go Peng Kuan Foundation for 2011 to 2012

  1. Renovation of the Surgery Ward in Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center
  2. Writing of a Book – Medical Anecdotal Reports

Renovation of the Surgery Ward in Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center

A general renovation of the Surgery Ward in Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center will be done and completed by end of December, 2011.  The Ward houses 58 beds for patients with a central nurse station.   It contains a surgical intensive care unit, treatment room and doctors’ working room.   Improvement on the rooms for patients and the hallway will be done to promote better environment for recovery from illnesses.  Likewise, improvement of the rooms with special functions will be done to promote more effective and efficient treatment of patients.  The façade of the ward will carry the name: Surgery Ward (Don Go Peng Kuan Hall).

Writing of a Book – Medical Anecdotal Reports

The Department of Surgery through its Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Reynaldo O. Joson, will compile, collate, integrate, and transform all Medical Anecdotal Reports  (MAR) done by the residents of the Department from 2004 to 2011 into a book.  The MARs , numbering more than 1000, contain narrations and insights that have contributed to the making of holistic, professional and compassionate surgeons in the Department of Surgery.  They contain learnings that are not seen in standard medical textbooks.  The book aims to serve as an advocacy for a holistic medical education  and the formation of holistic, professional and compassionate physicians throughout the country.  It will be published with a grant from Don Go Peng Kuan Foundation.

A million thanks to Ms. Julieta Go, Mr. Dante Go, and Mr. Reynaldo Go!  From Dr. Rey

Dr. Rey receiving grant from Ms. Julita Go, Mr. Dante Go, and Mr. Reynaldo Go. With Dr. Harry Go and Dr. Jo Malabanan, incumbent Chairman and Chief Resident respectively.
