Breast Cancer Survivor Sylvia Ordoñez – 19 Years in Remission

by Reynaldo O Joson on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 9:58pm

Ms. Sylvia Ordoñez was 43 years old in 1992 when I operated on her2-cm  breast cancer in Manila Doctors Hospital.  I did a subtotal mastectomy and axillary (armpit) dissection.  Histopathology showed ductal carcinoma with nodes negative for spread.  After the operation, she received a course of radiotherapy.  As of October, 2011, at age 62, she has no evidence of recurrence – 19 years in remission.  We both thank God for this long remission.
