Breast Cancer Survivor Lucita Monson – 14 Years in Remission

Ms. Lucita Monson, now in her 70s, from Imus Cavite, came to me for her check-up today, July 21, 2011.  I first saw her in 1997 soon after an operation done in the USA for her breast cancer.  Total mastectomy and armpit dissection were done.  Histopathology results showed multifocal carciinoma-in-situ with 3 foci of micro-invasion.  The primary tumor size was 3 cm.  Nodes were negative for spread of her breast cancer.  There were NO additional treatment after her operation, just check-up.  Ms. Monson stays most of the time in the USA.  Every time that she is in the Philippines, she would visit me for a check-up.  She is now 14 years in remission.  We both thank God for the remission.
